Farm Credit Honors Families with Long-Term Membership
90 farmers inducted into“2007 Heritage Farm Program”
LOUISVILLE, KY (December 14, 2007) – As a sign of its commitment to supporting farm families in Rural America, Farm Credit Services of Mid-America (FCS) launched a program to honor customer-member families who have supported the national Farm Credit System for over half a century.
“In 2007, 90 farm families from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee received the Heritage Farm designation. The program is another example of our cooperative’s appreciation of our members,” said Bob Barton, chairperson of the Farm Credit Services Board of Directors. “We are very proud of the families who have supported Farm Credit and the cooperative system. As a 90-year-old farming cooperative, we value tradition and recognize the important role long-term member families have played in the success of this cooperative and the preservation of this nation’s proud agricultural heritage.”
Recognition in the Heritage Farm Program is open to current members of Farm Credit who have also been a member of the Farm Credit System for at least 50 consecutive years through their immediate family, parents or grandparents. This year’s designees were honored at FCS’s annual customer appreciation events with a plaque. They later received a special heirloom hope chest.
