FCS office reopens after 2008 fire
Grand opening held May 29
Bluffton, Ind. (June 2, 2009)— The Farm Credit Services of Mid-America office in Bluffton, Indiana is officially re-open, a little less than a year after the original facility was destroyed by fire caused by lightening last June.
FCS’s new office is located on the same land where the old building burned at 1319 Baker Place. To celebrate the opening of new facility, the ten-person office staff hosted a Grand Opening last Friday, May 29 welcoming approximately 225 people. “Not only were we celebrating the opening of our new building, but we also recognized the contributions of long-time customer service representative, Janet DeWitt. DeWitt retired on May 29 and the mayor of Bluffton issued a proclamation declaring last Friday as Janet DeWitt Day in Bluffton.
“It’s great to be back in a real office,” said Laura Gentis, assistant vice president with FCS, as she and the other nine members of the Bluffton staff were unpacking boxes and setting up shop in their new facility. “Being relocated for the last year has made us all realize how much we missed being together in an environment that is more conducive to providing good customer service.” The staff was temporarily placed in an off-site building and in other nearby Farm Credit offices until the construction was completed.
