FCS, Jacobi team up to recognize KYFA finalists

Louisville, Kentucky – (May 27, 2009) – Kevin Arnold of Paris and Chad Konow of Franklin were two regional finalists in the Kentucky Young Farmer's (KYFA) Member of the Year contest, held in Bowling Green in February.  As a result of placing in the contest, both KYFA members are driving away with Cub Cadet Big Country for one growing season compliments of Farm Credit Services of Mid-America and Jacobi Sales, co-sponsors of the competition.

Arnold and Konow entered the KYFA contest in the spring of 2008 and advanced to the regional level last September where they were given the opportunity to vie for the state title during the annual convention. They were graded on a number of criteria including financial management abilities, commitment to the farming industry and community involvement. The results were announced at the KYFA annual convention in February.

"The real importance is the recognition and achievement of the young farmers," said Robert Monk, Regional Vice President for Farm Credit Services in central Kentucky. "It's quite an honor to be selected among your peers for your outstanding farm management practices. The idea behind the awards program is to send a message of support to an organization and its members, both of which are vital to Kentucky's agricultural industry."
