Four members elected to ag lending cooperative board

October 16, 2007 - Louisville, Kentucky - Farm Credit Services of Mid-America, a $12 billion financial services cooperative serving 75,000 farmers and rural residents in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee announced that four members have been elected to the organization's Board of Directors.

The elected board members include three new members and one incumbent.  New members are Dan Flanagan of Campbellsville, Kentucky; Andrew Wilson of Somerset, Ohio and Glen Hutchinson of Mufreesboro, Tennessee.  Ed Yanos of Cambridge City, Indiana was re-elected to the board.   All terms run through October, 2011.

They are a part of an 18-person board who meets monthly in Louisville, Kentucky, the cooperative’s headquarters, where they set policies and the overall direction for association. 

Additionally, members elected a 20-person nominating committee who will meet next June to select candidates for the 2008 cooperative elections.  Members are identified below.

Almost 7,000 members cast ballots in the elections. Participating in the election process is one of the benefits of cooperative membership.

The following Farm Credit Services members were elected to the board of directors during the fall elections which concluded October 12, 2007. All are four year terms.

Dan Flanagan is a full time farmer who owns a 400 acre farm and also leases 100 acres. On his farm, he raises soybeans, corn, and wheat.  He also manages six broiler houses and raises both wholesale and retail produce. 

Dan is actively involved with the ministry at his church.  He served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in 1990.  In 2005, he was selected as the “Agribusiness Person of the Year.”  Two years later, he was selected by the Soil Conservation Council as “Master Conservationist of the Year.”

Flanagan received his bachelors degree from Campbellsville University. He also graduated from the University of Louisville where he received his Masters in Administration. Additionally, he received his masters degree in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.   He and his wife Ginny have two children, William and Matthew. 

Dan has been a member of Farm Credit Services since 1985.

BoardHutchinson2.jpgGlen Hutchinson - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Glen Hutchinson has owned and operated Hutchinson Farms for 25 years.  He farms about 3,000 acres and raises row crops with an emphasis in corn, cotton, soybeans and wheat.  He also has a small cow/calf operation.

He serves as director for the Rutherford Farmers Cooperative and for the Rutherford County Farm Bureau.  He is also a graduate of Leadership Rutherford.  He is a member of the Soybean Grower’s Association, Cattleman’s Association, and the Cotton Grower’s Association.  He is a member of First Baptist Church.

Glen graduated from Riverdale High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.  He and his wife, Patti, have two children, William Thomas and Emily Rachel.

Glen is a former member of the Murfreesboro Advisory Committee.

BoardWilson2.jpgAndrew Wilson - Somerset, Ohio

Andrew Wilson is a full time farmer who operates a 750-acre corn, soybean, wheat, and hay operation.  As a contract grower for Heimerl Farms Ltd, he has a wean-to-breeding and a wean-to-finish gilt operation.  He also operates a cow/calf operation independently.

Andrew is a member at Fairfield Christian Church where he serves as a deacon.  He is a member of the Farm Bureau where he has served in many capacities.  After becoming a county member, he served as a county board member and was the chair of the Promotion and Education committee.  He was also a committee member of the Young Farmers and Ranchers and served two terms as a state board director. 

He attended Wilmington College of Ohio where he received a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness with an emphasis in swine production. He and his wife, Johanne, have two children: Jaxon and Jenna.

Andrew is a former member of the Cambridge Advisory Committee.

BoardYanos2.jpgEd Yanos – Cambridge City, Indiana

Ed Yanos is a full time farmer and President of Yanos Farms, Inc.  He currently owns 512 acres and leases 300 acres.  On his farm, he raises corn and soybeans, and also performs some custom farming operations. 

Ed is a member of the Harvestland Co-op, the Indiana Corn Growers Association and the Indiana Soybean Association.  He serves on the Field Crop Advisory Committee and Legal Assistance Committee for the Indiana Farm Bureau.  He also serves on the American Farm Bureau Crop Advisory committee.  

He graduated from South Henry High School and attended Purdue University and Ball State University.  He and his wife Susan have two daughters, Katie and Allison.

Ed is a member of the FCS Audit and Governance Committees.  He is also a member of the AgriBank Farm Credit Council and is a former member of the Muncie advisory committee.
